Snapselect: Amazing Photo Duplicates Finder and Duplicate Cleaner. App Reviews

71 Customer Reviews:

It will screw up the paths to your photos and the only way I was able to find the lost photos was to run this app again which takes FOREVER!!!!! and then use the show in finder option. I couldn’t find a way to resolve the paths to the photos with Aperture after using this app. Very frustrating, Aperture is very frustrating anyway and this makes it that much more FRUSTRATING!!!! I gave it a star because it’s required.

This program has Aperture problems. I tried to pull in my Aperture library with no luck. It appears to be related to problems with multiple Aperture libraries. I double checked on the offending library and it opened fine in Aperture. Aperture support is not fully baked in yet. Every time I open this app, at some point it begs for a review. Every time an app begs for a review past the initial request, removing a star is a really good idea. This behavior should not be positivly rewarded. Constantly begging for reviews destroys workflow, brand value, and confidence in the company behind the app, even when the app is on sale for free like this one. I would have been happy giving no reivew, but it keeps begging for one. And then another.

I’m running it on a late 2013 MacBook Pro with Retina Display under Mavericks. Pros: -Does a good job of finding duplicates -User can specify how similar photos must be to be considered duplicates -Fairly easy to use Cons: -If there are more than about 1200 photos in a given session, it freezes my MacBook Pro. I have to power down and start up again. -In the “View all groups of images” view, filenames and file sizes are not displayed and are not available by mouse-over. That info is available in other views, but you must return to the “View all groups” view to navigate to another group. This back and forth navigation is tedious and time-consuming. -You can sort groups of duplicates by filename or by file size but not by both. Some of my duplicates have the same filename but are different sizes; others are the same size but have different filenames. This app would be much more useful to me if I could sort by filename within file size and vice versa. Bottom Line: I’ve uninstalled it. I got it when it was offered for free and am glad I did not pay for it.

Finally got to download the new version of Snapselect today. Works like a charm on my iMac 2010 under Yosemite! Thanks a lot for adding Photos support at last. Now it makes my life much easier when it comes to sorting my photos.

When Photos came out and Snapselect didn’t support it at first, I was pushed to try other similar apps. Some of them didn’t work as promised, some didn’t find all duplicates, others were not intuitive…. I only then started appreciating how great Snapselect is indeed: simple to use, intuitive, fast, and precise. And now when Photos support is finally, I am happy to delete all other duplicate apps.

Snapselect works perfectly in general. But I especially love the fact that the app also finds similar photos, not only those that are exactly the same. And I enjoy how easy it is to sort and remove similar photos. Great app, I recommend it to everyone!

Intuitive, simple, fast. Snapselect helped me clean about 10 gigabytes of similar photos. I was going to clean my photo library for more than a year, but always held it over, because I knew it would take me a a lot time. And then I found Snapselect. In the end I managed to clean all the mess for less than half an hour!

If you take a lot of photos like I do, you will LOVE Snapselect. It’s perfect for detecting duplicates and similar photos. I’ve tried other apps, and ended up deleting wrong files, or not detecting similar photos. This is not the case with Snapselect, everything is simple. You just upload your photo library and chose what your best photos. Now my photo library is neat and organized, and I have lots of space for more photos!

Great app, but

It breaks the Mac App Store guideline 19.6. "Apps cannot use Push Notifications to send advertising, promotions, or direct marketing of any kind."

I previously downloaded Duplicate Photo Fixer Pro, but it would not work for me. When I contacted their customer service they wanted to charge me $120 to make it work. No, thank you! I was skeptical to try other programs, but was THRILLED to find that Snapselect did exactly what I needed! Great software, would recommend to all!
