Snapselect: Amazing Photo Duplicates Finder and Duplicate Cleaner. App Reviews

I travel alot and I’ve got so many photos from my trips (there are like thousands and thousands of them which lay untouched on my HDD-disk). It seems like I found a wonderful helper to put in order all my photos from the trips. I use this app everyday. I am impressed how accurate Snapselect groups similar photos. Unbelievable! It inspires to get rid of duplicates as soon as possible and to store only unique edited photos. Also I like the design and intuitive interface of the app. With new update it works much faster. I would recommend it to everyone with thousands of photos in the computer.

I was going for a long time to organize my photo album, I do not have time, and Snapselect has helped me make to do it very quickly and efficiently! I advise to all! Good fellows, developers!

It says it organizes your collections but it doesn’t organize anything. Wasted my money. I’m looking for a good organizer with folders and nested subfolders.

I have tried to pull my images from iPhoto over to this and it says no images found. I just wasted $9.99 wish I could get a refund.

I love many of Macphun’s programs and use them on an every day basis. This is not one of them. Clumsy and very slow. Maybe if you have a brand new system it would work better but I can’t even wait the 2 hours for it to figure out what to do. Not the program for me.

The new Photos for Mac is not compatible and this app is useless as a result. It will not scan my Photos library.

Software: 4-stars for ease of use. Marketing ploy: 1-star for notifications in pushing customers to review app on App Store. Apple should not allow such use of the Notification Center.

This program works very well at removing duplicates from my very large Aperture library. It correctly identifies edits and crops, so the intential copies were left along. Great way to reduce some of the chaos of time!

It sends you notifications, it nags you when you exit—please stop !

You can drag photos.app library into this app, but it takes way tooo long to analyze.

This software downloaded from App Store could not be deleted by click the cross sign after I hold click on its logo in the launcher.

i downloaded all those duplicate finder/cleaners apps, even the ones that werent free and they didnt come close to this app. i dont even write reviews but i felt the need to thank you guys. 2 thumbs up!!!!

The feature seems useful for a very small number of photos, but when try to load more than 100 or so (currently working with 1500) I get the color wheel of death.

I can’t get past the first step- selecting the folder or “catalog” to open for examination. Too bad because the other reviewers seem to like it so much and I REALLY need something like this. The tutorials show something different- my selections are different, libraries are greyed out, won’t allow opening. Now it may be that I just have not done something, left out a step. But that is what directions and tutorials are for, right? To ensure you know how to get the goodness out of the product. I don’t have the patience to spend hours learning this- it was supposed to just work. I have an inquiry out to the developers and if I can make it work I will revisit the review

I got it for free, so can’t complain. The app is fast and works great, but there is not photos support. Please add this asap to make it a really worth investment of time and money. Other similar products already support this.

I work in Lightroom, and am using this to find similars and duplicates. At first, I struggled with this app, becuase I didn’t understand how it works. I wasted almost two entire days by using this app. I, unwittingly, tagged a great number of photos as ‘Rejects’. The issue being that I didn’t understand the meaning of ‘Resolve Group’. Well, for anyone who’s wasted ½ as much time as I have, here’s the answer. Resolve Group means that any photo that’s not a ‘Pick’, will become a ‘Reject’. It doesn’t mean that you reject all that you want to keep, then ‘resolve the group’ removes it from the queue of duplicates/similars. After getting everything back in order, I started over, and tested how well this works with Lightroom. It seems to work just fine, as long as I select the ‘keepers’ as ‘picks’, and then ‘resolve group’. Another note… The app is optimized to use keyboard shortcuts, rather than a mouse. So, whenever you start using the app, try to leave the mouse alone and you’ll save yourself alot of time trying to switch views, scroll to the next group, ect. The interface has an annoying animation, every time a group is ‘resolved’, which eats up a couple seconds every time. This should be optional, as it slows down my workflow significantly. Also note, Snapselect creates copies of your photos in it’s working folder, which is what it shows you in the app. It doesn’t just refer to the original photos. If you’ve got 15GB of duplicates/similars, expect to temporarily lose 15GB of space on your drive.

This app is great for identifying photos that are similar, as well as identica shots in different formats, and allowing you to delete unneeded dupes. It is fast, accurate, and flexible.

I got a notification popping up today from SnapSelect advertising another of the company’s products. They never let up. Really annoying and inappropriate use of Notification Center.

So I can’t even try it.
